Two Su-30SME Join the Myanmar Air Force

Russian-made aircraft were shown at Meiktila Airfield

Two Su-30SME super-maneuverable multirole two-seat fighters of Russian production have been included in the Myanmar Air Force. This was reported by the press service of the Myanmar Ministry of Information.

The ceremony took place at Meiktila Airfield. It was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing. The General watched an air parade involving combat and military transport aircraft and helicopters of the country's Air Force.

Under a contract with the Russian Federation signed in 2018, Myanmar received 6 Su-30SME fighters. Deliveries were carried out in different years.

About the Su-30SME

Su-30SME is an export version of the Su-30SM. The aircraft is designed to gain air superiority, as well as strike various targets and cover air groups.

The fighter is maneuverable due to its integrated aerodynamic configuration and controlled thrust vector. It is equipped with two AL-31FP turbofan engines with afterburners. The Su-30SME develops a speed of 1.75M.

The aircraft carries up to 8000 kg of combat load on 12 hardpoints. The Su-30SME pilot can use guided and unguided weapons.
