Rides No Matter What: Whoosh Tries to Get on the "White List"

The company expects to continue operating even with mobile communication restrictions

The kicksharing service Whoosh has sent documents to the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation for inclusion in the so-called "white list" of services. Inclusion in it allows platforms to continue operating even with restrictions on mobile Internet.

The company explains that kicksharing has already become part of the urban transport system. Millions of users use electric scooters as the "last mile" - to get to the metro, work or home.

To ensure that trips do not stop when there are communication problems, the service's engineers have prepared workaround solutions in advance. For example, the technology of launching a rental via SMS - it was tested last season.

In 2026, Whoosh plans to launch an improved version of the system that will allow starting and ending trips more often even with an unstable Internet.

However, the SMS mode only partially solves the problem. Therefore, the service expects to be included in the Ministry of Digital Development's "white list" - then access to the platform will be maintained even with network restrictions.

Part of the market is already there. Previously, the list included the services "Yurent" and "Yandex Go".

Yurent notes that thanks to belonging to the MTS ecosystem, the service should continue to work even in the event of mobile Internet interruptions. In addition, users will also be able to rent scooters via SMS.
