The storm has subsided: Earth has emerged from the solar impact zone

Geomagnetic disturbances of level G1-G2 are a thing of the past, background indicators have returned to the green zone

The first prolonged magnetic storm of spring 2026 is in the past. Solar activity, which increased over the weekend, has subsided, and the situation has stabilized. Monitoring showed only two moderate flares of classes M1.2 and M1.0, as well as about thirty C-level events. This was enough only for a short-term increase in the activity index to six points, after which the values quickly decreased.

The geomagnetic situation on the planet developed according to forecasts. The solar wind flow from the coronal hole provoked disturbances of level G1–G2, the peak of which occurred on Saturday morning. Now the indicators have returned to a calm green level, although weak residual fluctuations are still possible during the day. The impact of the coronal hole generally coincided with the expectations of specialists. Today, short residual disturbances may still be observed by inertia, but globally the event is over.

Scientists from IKI and ISZF report that noticeable activity on the star has been suppressed for a month. There are no large active regions on the visible side, and the Solar Orbiter does not record anything unusual on the reverse side. The forecast for the near future remains favorable, no serious flares or powerful storms are expected.
