Mi-8 helicopter urgently evacuated an injured sailor in Kamchatka

A 32-year-old crew member of the trawler "SRTM Olafsson" suffered a lacerated arm wound

The National Sanitary Aviation Service of Rostec carried out an emergency evacuation of a sailor from a fishing vessel in the Bering Sea. The Mi-8 helicopter delivered the victim from Bolshoy Tigil Bay to the hospital. A 32-year-old member of the crew of the trawler "SRTM Olafsson" suffered serious damage to his arm during the work process. It was decided to use aviation to quickly deliver the victim to medical specialists.

For the flight, a Mi-8 with a paramedic and rescuers on board was prepared. The crew fixed the car over the bow of the ship and lowered the specialist by the method of non-parachute landing. The victim was lifted on board using a winch. The entire lifting operation took about twenty minutes. The helicopter commander, Andrei Kovalev, noted that such tasks have become well-established for the service crews.

During the flight, the paramedic provided the patient with specialized medical care. The sailor was promptly taken to the Olyutorsky District Hospital for further treatment. The National Sanitary Aviation Service has been operating in the Kamchatka Territory since 2020. During this time, the crews made more than 1,660 sorties and helped over 2,100 patients.
