RBC: AI Developers Asked for 450 Billion Rubles from the Budget for a Data Center, but Were Refused

Instead of funding, the authorities are discussing tax incentives and demand stimulation

Russian companies developing artificial intelligence technologies have appealed to the authorities for financial support. According to RBC sources in the IT market, Sber and Yandex proposed two options: annual funding of an investment program in the amount of 400 billion rubles or the allocation of 450 billion rubles for the construction of a data center, the capacity of which can be used by various players in the industry.

However, the authorities are not yet ready to allocate funds. Instead, non-financial support measures are being discussed: tax incentives for the purchase of computing equipment and the construction of data centers, as well as stimulating demand for AI services.

There is no final decision yet on what support AI developing companies will receive.
