Indestructible Tank for the Tundra: Rostec Showed the Operation of the TM-140 in the Arctic

More than 300 TM-140 tracked all-terrain vehicles manufactured by the High-Precision Complexes holding (part of Rostec) are operated in the northern regions of Russia. In total, more than 900 units of such vehicles have been manufactured since the start of production, the state corporation said.

The equipment is designed for the development of the Arctic, maintenance of oil and gas fields, construction of infrastructure and transportation of people and goods in complete off-road conditions. Due to the low ground pressure, the all-terrain vehicle is able to move on snow, tundra, swamps, as well as overcome sandy areas and water obstacles.

The TM-140 transports up to four tons of cargo or 12 passengers. The maximum speed on land is 45 km/h, on water — about 4–5 km/h. The range exceeds 500 kilometers, which allows you to work far from infrastructure.

Operation in the harsh northern climate places special demands on equipment – it must maintain operability and cross-country ability at extremely low temperatures and in conditions of total off-road conditions. Rostec is constantly improving Arctic special equipment, including TM-140 all-terrain vehicles.

Earlier, the TM-140 underwent rigorous testing: they tried to drown it, overload it beyond the norm, and break the chassis by jumping from trampolines — the equipment withstood all the loads.
