New "Irtysh" Processors Appear in Russia: A Domestic Solution with a Chinese Accent

The chips are declared as competitors to server solutions from Intel and AMD

The first batch of "Irtysh 632" server processors has begun to arrive in Russia, promoted as a modern domestic solution for data centers and high-performance computing.

The processor is based on the Chinese LoongArch architecture, developed by Loongson Technology. In essence, it is a Chinese chip that has been adapted and refined for the Russian market.

At the same time, the developer, Tramplin Electronics, claims that Russian engineers have seriously reworked the solution and implemented their own security and data encryption blocks in the processor.

In advertising statements, the new product is already being compared with solutions from Intel and AMD, promising comparable performance and even a lower price. However, skeptics note that the developing company only appeared in 2025, and the processors themselves have not yet been entered into the register of domestic electronics and have not received FSTEC certification in Russia. Without this, it is impossible to use them in critical infrastructure.

A separate question is the strategy itself. Russia has been developing its own Elbrus architecture for many years, which many experts consider to be a real technological foundation for independent microelectronics.
