Russian specialists are still involved in servicing equipment at the site where the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is being built in Iran. This was stated by Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom.
The priority for the state corporation remains to ensure the safety of personnel at Units №2 and №3. This is 639 people, Likhachev added.
At the same time, the main construction work is "for obvious reasons" temporarily suspended. The head of Rosatom assured that he regularly informs the Russian leadership about the situation at the nuclear power plant.
We have completed preparations for the second phase of headcount optimization, namely the evacuation of family members and some personnel to Russia. We will be taking them to a safe place in the near future.
The US and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on March 1, shelling strategic infrastructure facilities in the country.
Rosatom has repeatedly stressed that nuclear facilities cannot be attacked for security reasons. This also violates the agreements reached through the IAEA.
