Due to ice, ships take 4.5 hours to dock at the "Osterra" terminal

The company has involved ice-class tugs

At the "Osterra" coal terminal in the village of Vanino, Khabarovsk Territory, the docking time of ships has more than doubled due to the difficult ice situation. Instead of the standard two hours, operations now take up to 4.5 hours, the company's press service reported.

To ensure piloting, the terminal uses its own Arc4 ice-class tugs. The crews first break the ice in the pier area and bring the ship to a safe position, after which they dock it to the pier wall.

Despite the difficult navigation, the terminal maintains its working rhythm. In the first six days of March, the company shipped seven vessels. Specialists are now completing the loading of 82,000 tons of coal onto a Panamax-class bulk carrier.

Difficulties arose in the waters of the Tatar Strait. At the end of winter and the beginning of spring, large ice fields and hummocks form there, which complicate maneuvers and mooring operations.

The "Osterra" terminal is a specialized coal complex, formerly operating under the name "Dalttransugol". The company is part of the "Port Alliance" Group.
