Contact network accident near Ryazan: 11 trains delayed

Restoration work is organized in a limited capacity mode - schedule delays reach up to 3.5 hours

On the night of March 5 to 6, 2026, an emergency shutdown of traction power supply to the contact network was recorded on the Ryazan-1 — Lesok railway section. The incident, which occurred at 01:58 local time, was the result of damage to elements of the railway infrastructure, which led to a temporary suspension of traffic on this section.

According to the press service of Russian Railways, after the completion of emergency recovery work, railway communication was restored using a single-track scheme. Nevertheless, the current capacity of the section remains limited, which has led to the preservation of temporary changes in the schedule of passenger trains.

At the time of publication, 11 delays of long-distance passenger trains were recorded. Among them are trains heading to Moscow, and trains departing from the capital.

The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office reports that schedule delays can range from 180 to 220 minutes. To coordinate activities at the scene of the incident, transport prosecutor Yuri Voronin is working at the Ryazan-1 railway station complex; the agency has initiated supervisory procedures in connection with the disruption.
