Supplies of Russian steel semi-finished products to the European Union increased by 7% in 2025, reaching $1.8 billion. This is evidenced by data from a study by the international trade laboratory of the Gaidar Institute.

At the same time, despite the increased sanctions pressure, growth was recorded for certain non-energy items: supplies of steel semi-finished products increased ($1.8 billion, +7%).

In addition to steel, Europe increased its purchases of nickel raw materials — supplies increased by 5% to $0.73 billion. Experts attribute this primarily to the price factor. Primary aluminum, on the contrary, was shipped slightly less — a decrease of 1% (to $0.85 billion).

The dynamics were different in the American direction: supplies of platinum and platinum group metals to the United States decreased by 16% to $0.73 billion.
