Five regiments of S-400 Triumf air defense missile systems were sought for purchase from Russia abroad

India has already begun negotiations with Russia on the supply of the systems

India intends to purchase from Russia five more regimental sets of S-400 surface-to-air missile systems (SAM systems). This was reported by the authoritative agency ANI News, citing sources in the republic's defense sector.

The Indian Ministry of Defence will soon move to advance the Air Force proposal to purchase an additional five regimental sets of S-400 SAM systems in order to deploy them in the west and in the east.

Negotiations with the Russian side have already begun. The source also confirmed that India plans to buy an additional significant number of missiles in order to further increase its air defense capabilities.

ANI notes that India received three regimental S-400 sets under the 2018 contract and is now awaiting two more. Dmitry Shugaev, Director of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, confirmed that Russia does not rule out new deliveries of Triumf systems to India.
