Russian forensics experts are using artificial intelligence (AI) to search for criminals and solve crimes, according to Vadim Kazmin, Head of the Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
According to him, AI-based solutions allow processing large amounts of information and increase the effectiveness of checks against forensic records (information system of law enforcement agencies) and fingerprint databases (collection of fingerprint cards and traces removed from the crime scene). Modern forensics experts work with high-precision analytical equipment of Russian production, which complements traditional means of conducting checks.
Thanks to modern additive technologies, 3D printers and laser scanners, we can create copies of research objects, taking into account their dimensional characteristics.
Digital twins of objects are obtained using computer modeling. Drones and robotic equipment conduct inspections in hard-to-reach areas and dangerous locations. All these technical means increase the efficiency of forensics experts, Kazmin summarized.
