Garbage trucks on MAZ chassis with superstructures from the Smolensk KDM plant were sent to Russia

The SM-16 model was delivered to a municipal solid waste operator in the Volgograd Region

The Volgograd Region has received 13 garbage trucks based on MAZ chassis of the SM-16 model with superstructures from the Smolensk KDM plant. This was reported by the press service of OAO \"MAZ\".

In March, another 8 such vehicles will arrive in the Russian region.

Driver Vitaly Nikulin stated that the garbage truck meets all requirements. The vehicle automatically \"chews up\" the garbage and compresses it. The universal body grab makes it possible to service different types of containers, he added.

Features of the SM-16 model on the MAZ 5340S2 chassis:

  • Body volume — 17.5 m3
  • Wheel arrangement — 4×2
  • Hopper volume — 17.5 m3
  • Weight of transported waste — 7,500 kg
  • Gross vehicle weight — 17,700 kg

The Smolensk KDM plant produces 50 modifications of road maintenance vehicles on base chassis and dump trucks. The company has been manufacturing special-purpose vehicles based on MAZ since 1991.
