The first one hundred UMO 5 electric vehicles will be delivered to Yandex partner taxi fleets in Moscow within the next month. This was reported by the secretariat of First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.
Yandex will act not only as the project\'s technology partner, but also as the consolidator of corporate demand from taxi fleets, and will also handle distribution of the vehicles for private buyers. By the end of the year, the plant plans to produce more than 3 thousand UMO electric vehicles, after which the model will go on retail sale through the dealer network.
The UMO 5 is a five-seat crossover with a trunk volume of more than 400 liters and rear doors that open to 90 degrees. The range is 420 km in summer and 350 km in freezing weather, and a full charge takes 30 minutes. The vehicle is equipped with a Russian-language voice AI assistant from Yandex; in the future, a remote control function via the app will appear. The manufacturer is EM Rus, a resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ. Under a special investment contract, it assumed increased localization obligations. Moscow provided plant capacity for the project. A battery cluster for UMO is being built at the SEZ site in Krasnaya Pakhra and is expected to begin operating by the end of 2026.
The press release does not specify which technologies were used as the basis for creating the UMO brand. Notably, UMO was initially planned to be produced on the basis of a model from the Chinese concern GAC.
The first localized model of the brand was the UMO 5 electric crossover, developed for taxi service in the city. In Yandex classification, the model corresponds to the \"Comfort+\" fare.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that production of UMO electric vehicles had started at the Moskvich plant.
