Ka-52M Helicopters Receive 30mm Airburst Ammunition for Effective UAV Combat

The new product from Rostec has already been combat-tested: the Alligator crew demonstrated objective control footage

Video footage has emerged of the real combat use of the latest 30-mm shells with programmable airburst on Ka-52M Alligator attack helicopters. The ammunition, developed by specialists from the Rostec State Corporation, is specifically designed to engage small-sized kamikaze drones and loitering munitions.

As "The First Technical" previously reported, one of the Ka-52M crews destroyed 25 enemy drones in a single sortie. High efficiency is achieved through the integration of new shells into the helicopter's fire control system. The sighting system automatically calculates the optimal detonation point, taking into account the target's trajectory, after which the fuse is programmed via an optical communication line. The target is hit by a cloud of shrapnel, which significantly increases the probability of hitting maneuverable and low-visibility aerial targets.

This modernization significantly enhances the capabilities of cannons when working on fast-moving drones, offering an economical alternative to missile weapons.

The ammunition was created for the 2A42 30 mm automatic cannon and is compatible with a wide range of equipment: Typhoon-VDV armored vehicles, Terminator tank support fighting vehicles, BMP-2M with the Berezhok module, as well as Ka-52M and Mi-28N/NM helicopters.
