The Flame-Breathing "Tosochka" Has Completely Changed Its Purpose

The combat vehicle has gone beyond the role of an assault breakthrough weapon

The heavy flamethrower system TOS-2 "Tosochka" after modernization has changed its original assault role, turning into a fire support vehicle with broad capabilities. This was reported by Rostekh.

The state corporation noted that changes were made to the design of "Tosochka" — the chassis became wheeled, the vehicle received an automation suite for independent reloading, and an updated fire control system.

Thanks to this, the vehicle in its concept has already gone beyond the framework of an assault breakthrough weapon. This is a more flexible, mobile, and technologically equipped fire support instrument.

The wheeled chassis makes it possible for "Tosochka" to deploy quickly even at an unprepared position, receive firing data, communicate with the command post, conduct a salvo, and rapidly leave the position.

TOS-2 crews have begun using deeply upgraded 220-mm TBS-3M thermobaric rockets. The range of the munitions is up to 15 km.
