The state corporation Rosatom terminated its contract with Siemens at the end of 2025. The Germans did not deliver the equipment for the construction of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant in Hungary. This was reported by the press service of Rosatom State Corporation.
Siemens' potential participation was limited to certain elements of the automated process control system (APCS) — in the total volume of equipment for the project, this is less than 4%, which is not critical. This equipment can be replaced with either Russian or European equivalents.
Siemens was unable to fulfill its obligations due to the lack of an export permit for the production of instrumentation equipment in Germany. This became the main factor for terminating the contract (not at the company's own initiative).
In November 2025, the United States removed the Hungarian nuclear project from under sanctions. Last week, the first foundation pour took place at the construction site of the Paks-2 NPP. Construction of the plant is proceeding on schedule.
