Russian military personnel have released footage of the use of a mobile fire group of the Black Sea Fleet, equipped with the new Katran target designation system, created by the Laboratory PPSh company. The system is equipped with digital fire control with elements of artificial intelligence.
Turret modules with a pair of 7.62-mm PKT machine guns, coupled with Krechet/Krechet+ sighting systems, are mounted on the chassis of the vehicles. A key element is an automatic target acquisition system based on AI algorithms, which provides recognition, tracking, and coordinate transmission without operator intervention. The unified platform allows for the replacement of weapons: in addition to the PKT, it is possible to install high-speed GShG-7.62 systems or laser modules for solving special tasks.
The "Katran" system provides real-time target designation to the "Krechet+" tablet of each mobile fire group, located at a distance of up to 20 km.
