The Russian unmanned stratospheric platform "Barrage-1" is capable of providing 5G mobile communication relay in vast areas where the construction of ground towers is difficult.
The platform is designed to lift up to 100 kilograms of payload to a height of up to 20 kilometers — its launch allows creating an alternative to satellite 5G communication in combat zones. Previously, SpaceX began blocking Starlink terminals used by the Russian military.
The launch of the first "Barrage" became known on February 12, two weeks after the blocking of Starlink for Russians. "Barrage-1" is created mainly from Russian components. The platform was created by the Novgorod company "Aerodrommash" in collaboration with MSTU named after N.E. Bauman.
