In Kazan, ground-based drones, which one of the enterprises of Tatarstan produces for the needs of the army, have begun to be introduced to clear courtyards of snow. This was reported in the press service of the city hall.
This is not an experiment, but a systematic introduction of technology into the work of housing and communal services. <...> According to preliminary estimates, two such drones are capable of replacing up to 30 janitors. The robots are scheduled to enter the yards this winter.
Drones used in the combat zone were decided to be adapted for civilian purposes due to personnel shortages. According to the latest estimates, Kazan lacks about 900 janitors. According to the mayor of the city, Ilsur Metshin, this profession is still considered unprestigious due to low salaries, which start from 35 thousand rubles.
With the annual commissioning of 1.3 million square meters of housing, the burden on communal services is growing, and the staff is only 60% complete: out of the required 2.2 thousand employees, only 1.3 thousand people work in large management companies.
Test runs have shown that a pair of robot janitors, one of which is equipped with a bucket for raking snow, and the second performs the function of a snowplow, can replace 20–30 janitors. In five minutes, they are able to clear an area of 100 by 50 m from snow.
