Russian Railways repaired 4,200 km of track in 2025

In 2025, Russian Railways implemented a comprehensive program of capital repairs and modernization of railway infrastructure. According to the company's report, specialists repaired more than 4.2 thousand kilometers of track, which became a key stage in increasing the capacity and reliability of the main lines.

As part of the work, 1.6 thousand turnouts were replaced and over 520 kilometers of the catenary were reconstructed. Thanks to these measures, it was possible to increase the permissible speed of both passenger and freight trains on sections with a total length of almost 900 km.

Special attention was paid to removing infrastructure restrictions on traction power supply on a 600-kilometer section of the network. This made it possible to organize the passage of heavy freight trains weighing up to 7.1 thousand tons with a minimum following interval of 8–10 minutes, which significantly increased the efficiency of freight transportation.

To ensure maximum productivity of repair work, the company updated its fleet of specialized track equipment. In 2025, the railway industry was replenished with more than 60 units of new equipment, including two track-laying cranes, two rail-laying complexes, one track-straightening machine, eight track repair crews, as well as six snowplows and snow-removing machines.
