Supercomputer for 500 Billion Rubles to Appear in Russia

Sber Considers Investing in Project for Training AI Models and Scientific Research

Sberbank may allocate at least 500 billion rubles to create a new supercomputer. The plans were reported to Vedomosti by sources close to the credit institution, as well as representatives of the IT industry.

The new system is designed to develop artificial intelligence technologies and process large amounts of data. The supercomputer will combine thousands of computing nodes equipped with processors and graphics accelerators.

In addition to working with neural networks, the supercomputer is used for modeling climate processes, research in physics, chemistry, and genomics, as well as in the development of complex technical systems.

Previously, Sber had already launched similar projects. In 2019, the bank introduced the "Christofari" supercomputer, which became the basis of the ML Space platform. In 2021, the company showed "Christofari Neo." The new project should significantly surpass previous systems in power.
