A unified database of all bank cards of Russian citizens may be developed within a year. This was announced by State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, Ivan Lebedev.
According to him, the purpose of this database is to combat fraud in the banking sector.
This has become especially relevant in the context of the spread of restrictions on the use of cards.
The Central Bank has committed to preparing a unified database for the entire country within a year, which will show how many cards each citizen has and in which bank they are registered. This is to ensure that these adjustments are correct and convenient, and that there are no distortions.
The government has also introduced a second set of amendments to legislation aimed at combating cyber fraud. It is proposed to set a limit on the number of bank cards one person can have — no more than 20 cards, and no more than 5 cards in one bank.
