The BMPT "Terminator" has been taught to destroy drones with a new shrapnel round

Rostec has developed a 30 mm cartridge for the 2A42 cannon

Rostec has developed a new 30 mm cartridge with a shrapnel projectile and a remotely controlled fuze for the effective engagement of unmanned aerial vehicles. The ammunition is intended for firing from small-caliber artillery systems equipped with the 2A42 automatic cannon.

Such weapons are in service with the BMP-2, the BMPT "Terminator", the Mi-28NM and Ka-52M helicopters, and other platforms.

The sighting system calculates the most advantageous detonation point depending on the target's flight trajectory, which makes it possible to reach the drone with shrapnel. The detonation timing is entered automatically via the optical channel.

The advanced munition will be demonstrated for the first time at the international exhibition World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) from February 8 to 12.
