Pobeda Airlines acknowledged the use of narrowed baggage sizers at Vnukovo Airport

The carrier cited a manufacturing defect - the devices were withdrawn from service

Rostransnadzor discovered narrowed carry-on baggage sizers used by Pobeda Airlines at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport. The company explained the situation.

Pobeda Airlines baggage sizer
In one of the batches of sizers received from the manufacturer, a discrepancy was identified between the actual dimensions of the carry-on baggage measuring devices and the required ones. The difference is 0.5 cm in width and is related to the increased diameter of the load-bearing frame profile of the sizer.

The company said it had filed claims with the manufacturer. The sizers were withdrawn from service.

Specialists also inspected all measuring devices across Pobeda's route network. No other devices differing from the required dimensions were found.

Earlier, the Moscow City Court ruled that the airline's carry-on baggage size requirements were unlawful. Passengers were effectively prohibited from bringing personal items onto the aircraft.
