Murommashzavod is opening in the Vladimir Region the first production facility in Russia for steering racks for automobiles and electric portal axles for electric buses. Until 2022, these components were imported from Germany and China.
The plant plans to manufacture annually up to 350 racks for Aurus vehicles and more than 200 axles for Russian electric buses. A steering rack with electric power assist makes driving easier and increases comfort by softening impacts from road irregularities. Domestic portal axles are expected to provide electric buses with safety, smooth running, improved energy efficiency, and a low noise level.
The investor in the project was the state Industry Development Fund, which provided the plant with 1.75 billion rubles. The total amount of investment exceeded 2.2 billion rubles.
The funds were provided in the form of a concessional loan under the special program "Auto Components".
Earlier it was reported that Murommashzavod presented a steering rack with electric power assist intended not only for large passenger cars, but also for light commercial vehicles such as long-wheelbase Gazelles and Ford Transit.
