Artificial intelligence may play an important role in the development and study of the Arctic region. According to Aleksandr Vorotnikov, coordinator of the Expert Council of the Project Office for Arctic Development, the use of AI opens up new opportunities in geological exploration.
He recalled that permafrost and severe weather conditions prevail in the Arctic. Only a small part of the territory has been explored.
The use of artificial intelligence makes it possible to conduct research without being directly on site.
With the help of data analysis from geologists, AI is capable of identifying connections between various elements, which will help determine the abundance of certain regional resources.
Vorotnikov noted that AI will also be useful for managing the Trans-Arctic transport corridor, making it possible to take into account ice movement and wind strength. This approach will open new horizons for the application of technologies.
