Discussions continue in the Murmansk Region regarding the project to create a rare earth metal (REM) recycling cluster. This was announced by Andrey Trenin, General Director of "Arkmineral-resource," which holds the license to develop the Afrikanda deposit, on the sidelines of the III International Forum of New Materials, Chemistry and Technologies AMTExpo.
According to Trenin, the project is in the stage of forming the composition of participants and determining production needs. Companies are considering the possibility of joint processing of raw materials and the use of by-products to increase efficiency. Production volumes, partner participation, and possible government support measures are being discussed.
He emphasized that the regional authorities are actively involved in the discussion. The launch of the "Afrikanda" project will be the first stage in the implementation of the rare earth metal cluster in the Murmansk Region.
Earlier, the Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexey Chekunkov, reported that a complex for the deep processing of rare earth metals is planned to be created in the region.
