Valdai 12 Trucks Get YMZ-53445 Engine of Euro-5 Standard

The engine with SCR system complies with environmental standards, reducing emissions

Valdai 12 trucks have begun to be equipped with a new YMZ-53445 engine that meets the Euro-5 environmental standard. The engine is equipped with a catalytic converter and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, which automatically monitors the composition of exhaust gases and adjusts the supply of AdBlue reagent depending on temperature and load.

The SCR system is integrated with the engine's electronic control unit and includes a reagent injection nozzle, a 16-liter AdBlue tank with heating for the cold season, a muffler-neutralizer, and a set of nitrogen oxide sensors. This approach ensures stable compliance with environmental standards, reduces the risk of reagent crystallization, and reduces operating costs.

The power of the new engine reaches 169 hp at 2300 rpm, the maximum torque of 662 Nm is available in the range of 1300–1600 rpm. The engine works in tandem with a six-speed manual gearbox from the Nizhny Novgorod Motors plant, providing a wide range of gear ratios.

In addition to improvements to the power plant, the Valdai 12 maintains a high level of comfort: the three-seater cab with a wide entrance and good visibility is equipped with a sprung driver's seat, a sleeping shelf, a folding table, and a multimedia system with a rear-view camera. Multi-layer thermal insulation, air conditioning, and rear air suspension ensure a smooth ride, and a front wheel turning angle of up to 50° increases maneuverability.
