Aeroflot Temporarily Restricts Passenger Check-in Due to System Failure

Aeroflot Airlines has announced temporary restrictions on passenger and baggage check-in, as well as ticket issuance and refunds. The reason for this is a global failure in the Leonardo booking system, owned by Sirena-Travel. The restrictions affect all sales channels: website, contact center, and agents.

Currently, services for issuing, reissuing, and refunding tickets are temporarily unavailable due to the failure. The ability to obtain additional services through these channels is limited. In this regard, Aeroflot has warned its passengers about possible adjustments to the flight schedule.

The check-in system is currently operating manually at airports, which may cause delays and inconvenience for passengers. The system service provider is actively taking measures to restore it.

The low-cost carrier Pobeda has also confirmed that the system failure affects them as well. The company has noted difficulties in processing tickets and baggage.

In Aeroflot's history, there have been cases of serious failures in IT systems. In the summer of 2025, the airline reported a hacker attack that resulted in the cancellation of dozens of flights from Sheremetyevo to various destinations both in Russia and abroad. This incident led to the opening of a criminal case by the Prosecutor General's Office under Part 4 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code, concerning unauthorized access to computer information.

Aeroflot is actively working to restore the booking system to its normal operating mode, but for passengers, this is a time of uncertainty and potential delays.
