Exploring "New Physics": Neutrino Observatory Planned in Chelyabinsk Region

The new facility will use a neutrino source that has no analogues in the world

The National Center for Physics and Mathematics (NCPM) plans to create a neutrino observatory in the city of Snezhinsk (Chelyabinsk region). This was announced by the scientific director of the center, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev.

The main goal of the observatory is to study "new physics" and the structure of the micro world through observation of neutrinos (particles with half-integer spin, participating only in weak and gravitational interactions).

In this facility of ours, which will be built in Snezhinsk, we will use a very powerful neutrino source, one that does not exist anywhere else in the world, and we will create the most sensitive detectors in order to study new possibilities.
Alexander Sergeev, Scientific Director of NCPM

The creation of a new observatory is part of the NCPM development strategy until 2045.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a new neutrino detector is being developed in Kabardino-Balkaria.
