Scientists baffled: Powerful double explosion occurred on the far side of the Sun on December 23

It was assumed that this area of the Sun was practically devoid of activity

A powerful double explosion occurred on the far side of the Sun on December 23. This was reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI and ISZF.

Experts noted that no satellite was able to record this event. Scientists are so far relying on indirect data.

Not so long ago, researchers believed that this area of the star was practically devoid of activity. Against the background of the flare, three planets visually "neighboring" the Sun at that moment — Venus and Mercury on the left, and Mars on the right.

In reality, the impact on the first two planets is an optical illusion. Both bodies are now far behind the Sun on the opposite side from Earth, while the plasma clouds have gone noticeably to the side.

If the centers of activity that caused the explosion persist for five days, they can be observed from Earth. In this case, the Sun will turn, and the active regions will be on its left edge. This will allow for more accurate research.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Sun absorbed the largest cluster of spots.
