Solikamsk Magnesium Plant of Rosatom launched the second phase of chlorine production modernization

Solikamsk Magnesium Plant (SMP), part of the Rosatom State Corporation, has begun the second phase of a large-scale modernization of its chlorine production. In 2025, after the completion of the first phase of the upgrade, the company successfully switched to the production of high-quality liquid commercial chlorine, meeting the most stringent industry standards.

Now, the plant's engineers are implementing a new technological solution — a set of equipment centered around a new generation chlorine filter. According to SMP representatives, this equipment will significantly increase the efficiency of the chlorine derivative production shop, reduce energy consumption, and improve the cleaning parameters of the final product.

Liquid chlorine produced at SMP is used as a key reagent in water supply and water treatment enterprises in the Ural region. In addition, it is used directly in the technological cycles of the plant itself and supplied to other metallurgical enterprises in the country.
