Japanese BellaBot waiter robot starts working in a Yakutsk school

The robot helps schoolchildren distribute food

The first BellaBot waiter robot has started working in the canteen of school No. 40 in Yakutsk, the city's education department press service reports. The robot is designed to help schoolchildren on duty distribute trays of food.

BellaBot is equipped with navigation systems, obstacle sensors and several shelves-trays. It is able to independently build a route along a pre-loaded map of the dining room, carefully bypassing people and tables, as well as warn others with audio messages, such as "Caution, hot!". A fully autonomous robot can carry several trays at once.

According to representatives of the education department, the appearance of BellaBot motivates students to study technology and robotics, and also makes the lunch process faster and more interesting. In the event of a successful test launch, it is planned to introduce similar robots in other large schools in Yakutsk.

The BellaBot waiter robot is a product of the Japanese company Pudu Robotics. It cannot completely replace a waiter, but it can be a good helper during peak hours.
