Valery Polovinkin, Scientific Director of the Krylov State Research Center (KSRC), stated that the Russian unmanned underwater vehicle «Poseidon» represents the pinnacle of modern technology in the field of autonomous underwater systems. According to him, this weapon is rightly considered a means of strategic deterrence of the last frontier.
«Poseidon» is the pinnacle of the development of unmanned underwater technologies. A device that is capable of being underwater for such a long time, being controlled, evading, and having such a consistently high speed, is, of course, a revolution. It is rightly called a "doomsday" weapon. «Poseidon» is practically invulnerable, especially considering that it can swim at depths of up to 1,000 meters.
Polovinkin emphasized that «Poseidon» has a high degree of protection against interception and is practically invulnerable to existing countermeasures. One of the key tactical advantages of the device, in his opinion, is the ability to simultaneously launch several units from different directions, which greatly increases the effectiveness of its use.
