Polar crane bridge weighing over 220 tons delivered from Russia to El Dabaa NPP site

A key element of lifting equipment has arrived in Egypt for installation at the first power unit

The bridge of the polar crane for power unit No. 1 has been delivered to the construction site of the first Egyptian El Dabaa NPP. This is a key lifting equipment required at all stages of the station's life cycle. One of the largest and most important elements of reactor equipment arrived in the port of Alexandria from Novorossiysk. The total weight of the structure exceeded 220 tons. The component was manufactured at the Tyazhmash plant in Syzran.

Installation of a polar crane at the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey

The polar crane is a bridge-type lifting mechanism of circular action, installed inside the reactor building under the dome of the inner containment. Its set of functions covers the entire life cycle of a nuclear power plant: from the installation of large-sized technological structures at the construction stage to participation in fuel reloading, inspections and maintenance after start-up.

In the future, when the power unit is decommissioned, the crane will ensure the safe dismantling of equipment, minimizing the presence of personnel in areas of increased radiation hazard.
