A resident of Grozny has put up for sale a 1977 VAZ-21011, a modification of the VAZ-2101. The "Kopeika" has covered only 7,300 kilometers. The seller claims that the smell of a new car has been preserved in the cabin. He is asking 1,575,000 rubles for the rarity, which is comparable to the cost of a new Lada Vesta.
The seller assures that the car is in absolutely original condition — including the preservation not only of the units and paintwork, but also of the wheels together with the tires. For 30 years, the "Kopeika" was not used and was kept in a dry garage.
The VAZ-21011 was produced from 1972 and included a number of improvements to enhance dynamics and comfort. Thus, the car was equipped with a more powerful engine than the VAZ-2101. It was fitted with a 1.3-liter engine producing 70 horsepower, whereas the first "Zhiguli" model had only a 1.2-liter engine and 64 horsepower.
The body of the VAZ-21011 received ventilation openings on the rear pillars, four additional slots under the radiator grille for cooling, and simplified bumpers without "fangs," with rubber inserts.
The car can also rightly be called a "Kopeika," since it belongs to the first generation of "Zhiguli." This nickname was given to AvtoVAZ's creation thanks to the shape of the front part of the body, resembling a kopeck coin.
