Russians reminded of fines for overdue OSAGO

Roskachestvo: Every car owner is required to obtain an insurance policy

Mandatory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners (OSAGO) covers expenses in case of an accident for car repairs and treatment of victims. Every car owner must have a valid policy on hand. This was reminded by Roskachestvo.

When applying for insurance, it is important to specify who will be driving the car. The payment is assigned only if the driver specified in the OSAGO was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

According to the law, the insurance company can pay a maximum of up to 500 thousand rubles for damage to the life and health of the victim and up to 400 thousand rubles for damaged property. The OSAGO policy is valid for 12 months, but there are also short-term insurance policies (from several days to several months).

Fines for overdue policy

Russians are warned that OSAGO needs to be updated on time. If the policy is overdue, the car owner faces a fine of 800 rubles. If the violation is detected repeatedly, the amount of the fine increases from 3 thousand rubles to 5 thousand rubles.

Currently, control functions are assigned to traffic police inspectors. In the future, overdue OSAGO policies will be able to be determined using street surveillance cameras.
