A cloud of plasma ejected by the Sun, the impact of which caused a magnetic storm on Earth, triggered the appearance of the aurora borealis. It can be seen by Russians in the central and northern regions of the country. This was reported in the laboratory of solar astronomy of IKI RAS and ISZF SB RAS.
According to scientists, the peak of the northern lights occurred between 19:30 and 21:00 Moscow time. At the same time, the lower border was at a latitude of 50°.
In the range from 55° to 75° (Moscow and north), visual observations should be available in case of clear skies.
At a latitude of 50° to 55°, an atmospheric optical phenomenon can be observed using a camera or smartphone camera. Scientists explained that the Earth is still experiencing the effects of solar flares that occurred in the last 24 hours. At this time, weather-sensitive Russians may feel unwell due to changes in blood pressure, and also suffer from migraines.
