Footage of alleged fragments of the latest Russian hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) "Oreshnik" has appeared online. This concerns the aftermath of the strike on the night of January 9.
The photographs show two large elements of the missile, as well as several small fragments.
Footage of the combat use of the MRBM has appeared online. This concerns a launch without a special warhead. Judging by the footage, six combat blocks hit the targets. Information about the launch of "Oreshnik" wasconfirmed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Rocket engineer Alexander Vasiliev noted that the kinetic energy reserve of the "Oreshnik" combat block at a speed of over Mach 5-6exceeds the energy of the explosive that can physically be placed in the body. At such overloads, the explosive could occupy no more than 25-30% of the mass.
