KAMAZ launched assembly of the latest semi-truck tractor unit with the 65956 index of the K5 generation

The model is intended for operation as part of a road train

The first example of the KAMAZ-65956 semi-truck tractor unit rolled off the main assembly line of PAO "KAMAZ" — a new model in the heavy-duty K5 generation family. The vehicle is undergoing bench tests at the plant.

The tractor unit was developed on the basis of the all-wheel-drive KAMAZ-65955, with which it shares the engine, electrical equipment, exhaust system, pneumatic and fuel lines, as well as the cab's spring suspension.

Distinctive features of the new product:

  • original design of the rear fenders mounted on a special bracket;
  • raised fifth-wheel coupling device;
  • extended wheelbase for installing low-loader or dump semi-trailers.

Technical specifications:

  • Wheel arrangement: 6×4
  • Engine: inline-6, 560 hp
  • Transmission: 16-speed manual gearbox
  • Fuel tank capacity: 600 L
  • Gross road train weight: up to 91.5 t
  • Semi-trailer payload capacity: up to 80 t (sand, gravel, and other bulk materials)

The model is intended for operation as part of a road train when transporting oversized equipment, as well as at construction sites, in quarries, and at industrial facilities.

Serial production of the KAMAZ-65956 is scheduled for 2026. The tractor unit will be supplied both to the domestic market and for export — in particular, to the EAEU countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan.

The K5 platform includes five families: long-haul, transport, heavy-duty, all-wheel-drive, and medium-duty. Within each family, various models and configurations are available, adapted to specific operating conditions.
