Rosstandart Makes Statement on Right-Hand Drive Cars

It will be more difficult for Russians to confirm the compliance of cars with non-standard steering with the new requirements

Russia does not plan to introduce a ban on right-hand drive cars. This was stated by the head of Rosstandart, Anton Shalaev.

So far, there are no restrictions on right-hand drive cars and none are expected.

Shalaev admitted that changes may be made to the current GOSTs in 2026. This will make it more difficult for Russian car owners to confirm that a right-hand drive car meets the established requirements, he did not rule out.

Earlier, the Avtostat agency recalled the large number of cars with non-standard steering in some regions of the country. For example, in the Far East, about 90% of local residents drive such cars.
