The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kozlov, told TASS that, according to preliminary data, diamond reserves in Russia did not increase in 2025, while in 2024 their increase was recorded at 1.9 million carats.
In 2024, at the expense of the federal budget, prospecting work for primary diamonds began at the Menda-Barylaisky and Linden areas in Yakutia, and in 2025, within the framework of the federal project "Geology: Revival of the Legend", work started at two more areas of the republic - East-Oleneksky and Kelimyarsky.
The total volume of state investments in diamond exploration exceeds two billion rubles, and the planned increase in forecast resources is 157 million carats. Earlier, the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that the subsoil of Russia contains up to 45% of all world diamond reserves.
