Dredging and cleaning operations will begin at the Henichesk seaport in 2026, according to Vladimir Saldo, Governor of the Kherson Region.
The port has not been operational for many years. We expect to start work next year.
According to him, the Henichesk seaport has great potential. It expands opportunities for shipping on the Azov and Black Seas. In addition, it is planned to restore the ports in Skadovsk and Khorly, which have already been included in the Rosmorrechflot register, Saldo summarized.
Dredging operations are carried out by technical fleet vessels — dredgers. In March 2025, a shortage of them was reported in Russia. For example, Rosmorport lacked 6 dredgers. Vessels of this type are currently being built at shipyards and shipbuilding enterprises in Astrakhan, St. Petersburg, Omsk, and the Moscow region.
