Voronezh Region Governor Gusev: Design must be fast

The creation of dedicated lanes for public transport (metrobus) in Voronezh cannot be delayed. The project should start in 2026, said Alexander Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region.

Dedicated lanes will appear in the center of the two busiest streets of the city — Plekhanovskaya and Moskovsky Prospekt. It is planned to connect the metrobus line to the airport.

Design must be done quickly. In 2026, we will start implementing this project.

According to him, construction can already begin on some sections of the route. But the main difficulty is the installation of bus stop complexes, as this will require serious engineering surveys and a temporary suspension of traffic, Gusev explained.

Earlier, the General Director of the Voronezh Airport named after Peter the First, Roman Frolenko, stated that the air gateway could become the final point of the first metrobus route. This does not require changes to the transport scheme of the forecourt area.

One of the busiest metrobus lines is located in Istanbul. Its length is 52 km. Ground public transport began running on a dedicated lane in 2007. The annual passenger traffic of the metrobus exceeds 300 million people.
