Deputy Head of the Russian Traffic Police, Oleg Ponaryin, believes that on certain sections of highways, the speed limit could be increased from 130 to 150 kilometers per hour. His proposal has already been supported by the head of the Traffic Police, Mikhail Chernikov.
Increasing the speed does not imply introducing new restrictions. On the contrary, increased limits on certain roads should create greater comfort and convenience for drivers, allowing them to avoid the need to change their driving mode, according to the Traffic Police.
Deputy Minister of Transport Konstantin Pashkov noted in November that roads without speed limits may appear in Russia. Although cars are already ready for such a regime, the necessary infrastructure is not yet available.
