Updated 1,000 Ruble Banknote Featuring a QR Code and Symbols of Nizhny Novgorod Unveiled

What has changed in the banknote dedicated to the Volga Federal District

The Bank of Russia is beginning the gradual introduction of the updated 1,000 ruble banknote. The innovation includes both a modern visual design and an enhanced set of security features, increasing resistance to counterfeiting.

According to the regulator's press service, the new banknote is dedicated to Nizhny Novgorod and the Volga Federal District. The obverse features an image of the Nikolskaya Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, and the reverse features the Saratov Automobile Bridge, the hydrofoil vessel "Meteor-120R," and the Palace of Farmers in Kazan. The color scheme is maintained in the familiar turquoise range, ensuring continuity with previous versions.

The developers paid special attention to digital integration: the banknote features a QR code, scanning which redirects the user to a specialized page on the Bank of Russia website. It contains a detailed description of the artistic design, as well as comprehensive information on all authenticity features.

The updated banknotes will gradually enter circulation and coexist with the 1997 samples.
