Own production for aircraft engine repair by 2027: Aeroflot completes repair of third foreign unit

The new production facility will repair engines for narrow-body Airbus and Boeing aircraft

The Aeroflot Group intends to launch full-scale production for the repair of aircraft engines in the fourth quarter of 2027. This was announced by the company's CEO, Sergei Alexandrovsky, emphasizing that the repair of three engines will be completed as early as December 2025 — the first of them was restored at the beginning of the month, and two more are planned to be completed before its end.

As a reminder, the repair work is focused on the CFM56 family of engines — in particular, the CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B models, which are installed on narrow-body Airbus A320ceo and Boeing 737NG aircraft.

As part of the project, a specialized subsidiary structure, JSC "AeroTrustTechnics", was created within the Aeroflot Group. Production facilities are located at the Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport.

According to Alexandrovsky, the current work is of a pilot nature and serves as preparation for the launch of a full-fledged repair cycle, which in the future should ensure the airline's autonomy in servicing key components of aircraft.

As noted, in October 2025, the Aeroflot Group successfully passed the audit of Rosaviatsiya and received a certificate of compliance with FAR-145, which will allow it to engage in full repair of aircraft engines.
