Kalashnikov Concern JSC presented an updated museum exhibition "One Man Is a Warrior in the Field" at the Izhmash Museum in Izhevsk, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the creation of domestic sniper weapons. The exhibition features more than ten models, covering almost a century of the development of high-precision small arms in Russia — from the first experimental models of the 1930s to modern systems used in the combat zone.
Key exhibits include the 7.62-mm Degtyarev self-loading rifle model 1930 and the famous 7.62-mm Mosin sniper rifle model 1891/30 with a PU optical sight, which marked the beginning of the domestic sniper school.
The central place in the collection is occupied by the developments of Evgeny Dragunov: the basic 7.62-mm SVD for the 7.62×54 mmR cartridge, its modifications — the SVDS with a folding stock and the SVDM with a reinforced barrel group and improved ergonomics. Experimental and specialized versions are also presented: the automatic SVDA (V-70), the large-caliber SVDK for the powerful 9.3×64 mm cartridge, and the SV-338, designed for the long-range .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge (8.6×70 mm).
Among modern systems, the following stand out: the 7.62-mm self-loading rifle VS-121 with a "bullpup" layout (the trigger mechanism is located in front of the magazine), which ensures compactness while maintaining the barrel length; the 5.6-mm SV-99 and the training TSV, focused on sniper training; as well as the latest generation of high-precision rifles — the Chukavin sniper rifle (СВЧ) and the SV-98, both in 7.62 mm caliber. These models are distinguished by increased accuracy (up to 0.5 MOA), modular design and are adapted for use in difficult combat conditions. According to representatives of the concern, both models have proven themselves in real combat conditions and have received positive feedback from military personnel.
The exhibition will be open until the end of 2026. It will allow visitors to see how domestic sniper systems have developed. The exhibition will show the tactical and technical characteristics, engineering solutions and combat use of weapons.
